Things you don’t expect to see on your way home…
West Projections Festival is a not for profit organisation with a committee made up of people from the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. The festival is co-produced by Victoria University and Wynter Projects and will be presented in its sixth consecutive year in 2019.
West Projections Festival 2019 delves into the theme of ‘Home’. Artists are invited to investigate their sense of place.
Inspired by the native animals and fish that call Footscray and the nearby Maribyrnong River home, families are invited to use ‘invisible ink’ to free draw, stencil and trace projected images of real and imaginary land and water creatures along a concrete path in Fordham Reserve.
The completed large scale work will only be able visible under UV light, creating a magical, illuminating experience for families after-dark. The work will also invite pedestrians, scooters and cyclists who go through Fordham Reserve on their way to and from home to take a second look at their familiar surroundings to discover something new.
